I’m the first to admit that I’m far from a beauty guru. You know that depiction of the evolution of man, with the modern human in the front and the ape in the back? Yeah, when it comes to makeup skills, I’m at the far end of the line. Lately, however, I’ve started to feel like I’m getting more up to snuff, thanks in part to a handful of new products I’ve had a little too much fun playing with…
Case in point: This Tom Ford lip color. I actually got this gloss back in December, but only whipped it out until a few weeks ago. I love how it’s glossy without being too sticky or shiny, and that the pink color lasts a couple hours. Safe to say, it’s my new everyday shade.
Also on my “love list” right now is brow gel. My mom and I have a running joke/fight about keeping my eyebrows in check, so it wasn’t surprising when this goodie turned up in my makeup drawer. Thus far I’m pretty happy with it, although I’m eager to experiment with other options as well (see below).
In between my Tom Ford-coated lips and groomed brows, I’ve found plenty of room for this Beautycounter 2-in-1 bronzer and blush palette. I never wore much on my cheeks until this summer, and now a little dab of this rosy hue is part of my daily routine. I like mixing the bronzer and blush for a more subtle look, then sweeping any excess along the bridge of my forehead for extra color.
Now for skincare. The latest addition to my sensitive-skin repertoire is this S.W. Basics cream. I love S.W. Basics products because they 100% free of nasty chemicals, plastics, fragrance, etc, and when I saw there was one of these lotions left on the shelf at Target a few days ago, I couldn’t resist! I’ve only used the cream for a few nights, but am already impressed by how heavy-duty the formula is (especially given that it’s only 3 ingredients!). A little bit goes a long way, so I like to massage it into my face and then smear the rest on my chest and neck right before bed.
Now that I’ve found a couple new gems to obsess over, you’d think my urge to pick up more products would take a back seat. But, contrary to both logic and my wallet’s silent pleas, I feel like I’m only just getting started. Currently on my beauty wish list is:
