I like to think of myself as a pretty productive person. I make to-do lists (and cross them off!), I wake up pretty early, and I’ve gotten pretty good at the whole “time management” thing. Sometimes, however, it feels amazing to slip into something comfy and spend a few hours indulging in digital entertainment. By this point, I’m pretty sure you all know where this is headed…yep, today on A Style Study we’re talking about the art of “Netflix and Chill.”
Now, those who know me personally are probably pretty surprised to see this post coming from me. In truth, I’m not much of a “binger”- instead, I tend to fall in and out of various series over the course of several months. With that said, having so much free time over Christmas break has allowed to block out a few hours each day to get back into some of my favorite shows. In my typical type A fashion, I’ve narrowed down a pretty succinct formula for the perfect “Netflix and Chill” night. Want the details? Scroll below to find out more!
Step 1 // The Outfit
It doesn’t take a pro to tell you that the key to any good “Netflix and Chill” moment lies in the outfit. As a self-professed Queen of Comfort, I like to think I’ve got this step sorted. For this night’s session, I slipped into a Madewell sleep shirt I bought last fall plus an Abercrombie bralette I’ve had since forever. Looking for a few pieces to spice up your binge wardrobe? Step 2 // The Shows
This part should be obvious, but it’s actually the one I struggle with the most. I’m really picky about what shows I watch, and it’s really rare that I stumble upon a new find that grips me immediately. Right now I’m in one of my in-between ruts, so I’ve been recycling a lot of old favorites, like HBO’s Girls (who’s pumped for season 6?!). The last new shows I properly finished was ABC’s Quantico on Netflix and season 1 of HBO’s True Detective. I started Netflix’s The Crown last month and loved it, but after taking a few weeks off I’m having trouble reconnecting with the story! Step 3 // The Snack
…also known as the most important step, if you ask me. Because I mostly watch Netflix at night, my snack tends to be whatever my dessert is that night. Normally it’s two nuggets of my favorite dark chocolate, but lately I’ve been indulging in new baked goods recipes. This weekend, for example, I whipped up gluten-free vegan chocolate chip banana bread (see above) that’s lasting me well into this week. Cozy outfit + blankets + Netflix + chocolate-y treat? I’ve never been good at math, but I’d say that equals bliss. 🙂
