Happy Monday, everybody! Given that summer is now in full swing, I figured it was about time I gave you an update on my bucket list for the season. I’ve been a lot busier than expected over the past few weeks, but I have to admit I kind of love it! Right now it’s all about work, work, and more work, but I’ve got some exciting announcements/plans on the horizon, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled!
And now, onto the show…
Okay, okay: I’ll be the first to admit that the list above is looking a little sparse. But I will also say that this is somewhat intentional. When it comes to my summer bucket list, it is important to me that I take my time in completing each item as opposed to rushing through it all just to get it done. I mean, what’s the point of summer if you’re not relishing the moment?
I’ll start by talking about the two goals I have completed, Make a joy jar and Try new workout classes. I posted about my joy jar a couple weeks ago, and I am proud to say that I add another slip of paper every night. (Side note: Thinking about doing a post on my mindfulness/journaling practice…let me know it that’s of interest!) Working on the jar is one of my favorite parts of the day, because the process of recalling happy moments is incredibly joyful in itself. I already cannot wait until it’s full and I can open it and relive all the memories again!
As for trying new workout classes, I started off strong by hitting up Flywheel with my mom. The class was definitely a new experience, the impact of which was doubled by the fact that I could not sit down the next day. I countered that shock a few days latter with a trip to my favorite local yoga studio, where I’d been neglecting to take classes since the winter. Turns out an intense hot yoga session was just what the doctor ordered, and I left feeling better than I had in ages. Long story short? I’m not sure if a career as a spin fiend is in my future, but my new motto (aside from accept, that is) is “when it doubt…yoga.” 🙂
Alright, time to own up to the goals I have yet to fulfill. Covering the list from top to bottom…
:: Do a natural beauty “spa night”
My skin has been acting super-weird ever since the temperatures surged, so I’ve been wary of deviating from my routine, even for the natural stuff. Once things settle down, however, I can’t wait to experiment with different hair and face masks. If you have any favorite “recipes,” I’d love any and all recs!
:: Read a book in French
Now, I was “this close* to crossing off this goal for today’s post, but I’m sucker for wording so I didn’t. You see, while I have indeed started reading La fille du train, the French translation of The Girl on the Train, I have yet to actually finish it. See? Big difference.
:: Live tech-free for 24 hours
About the whole tech-free thing: I fully planned on giving up technology last Sunday…but then I had to work. Given that part of my job involves lots of scanning and typing on a computer, I’m hard-pressed to find a day when I am not working and do not need to use my laptop for summer homework and blogging. Does it sound like I’m making excuses? I swear I’m not. 😉
:: Live in a capsule wardrobe for 1 week
Full disclosure: A couple weeks ago, I attempted to pack a 10-piece capsule wardrobe to get me through about five days. The endeavor subsequently ended in me having a panic attack and staring at the rest of my clothes like a toddler stairs at a withheld toy. So, yeah, that did not work. I am, however, still planning on getting this capsule wardrobe done sometime later in the summer. Just don’t ask me when…
And that’s the way it is on July 11, 2016. Check back here on Wednesday for an exciting announcement from yours truly. I promise, it’s a good one. 🙂
