In a complete one-eighty from Monday’s post about change, today on A Style Study we’re talking about the magic of old favorites. You know the things I’m talking about: The fading denim jacket that works it’s way into almost every outfit. That one recipe that always hits the spot. The movie that never fails make you laugh. I like to think of old favorites like State Farm Insurance. Like a good neighbor, they’re always there, supposedly with some pretty great coverage.
I was reminded of the power of golden oldies a couple nights ago, when, after spending an hour is search of some sort of entertainment, I finally settled in with this conversation between writer Anna Holmes and Rookie founder Tavi Gevinson. It was filmed last year, and I’ve listened to it countless times since then. And you know what? It’s just as gripping, inspiring, and, yes, fresh on fifth listen as it was on the first. (Seriously, though, if you are at all interested in media/feminism/both, you need to check it out.)
Since that serendipitous moment, I was been inspired to compile a list for you of- what else?- a few of my other old favorites. Although the items are very different from one another, what they all have in common in that they are inexhaustible sources of joy, both on the good days, and the bad.
Okay…I’ve shared, but now it’s your turn. What are five of your old favorites? Post them in the comments below!
