I came across a very disturbing rumor recently. Apparently, there are people out there saying- wait for it- that rainy days are “boring”. Shocking, I know.
I mean, rainy days are nothing if not a hotbed of amusement. What’s not to love? For starters, you’ve got an excuse to stay in your most comfortable attire all day. Heck, you could even stay in your pajamas. But if you’re like me and prefer to change your clothes, a well-worn pair of leggings should do you just right (these are personal favorite).
As if snuggly clothes weren’t enough, a rainy day is also the prefect opportunity to get your binge-watch on. Got a long list of movies you’ve been meaning to see? Now’s the time. I myself love using drizzly weather to dive into a new television series. Just this week, for example, I spent an entire afternoon with season one of The Good Wife. Consider me o-b-s-e-s-s-e-d.
Okay, we’ve got the wardrobe, the entertainment, but I know you’re all thinking, “Olivia, what about the food?” The answer. my friends, is bake. Whip up some cookies (the beauties above are from this delicious recipe), brownies, cupcakes, muffins, anything. Not only is baking is a fun way to break up the day (read: get off the couch), but it gives you something sweet to nibble on while cozying up to all those movies. Bonus points if your house is damp, like mine: the smell of baked goods will help fight the stench brought on by the excess moisture.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but it looks to me like we’ve got the makings of great day on our hands, rain be damned.
So do me a favor, and pass this post around. Because this anti-rainy day slander has got to stop.
