At the beginning of this year (can you believe that was almost four months ago?!), I resolved to commit myself to more regular exercise. And while I may not be breaking a sweat seven or even six days a week quite yet, I’m happy to report that this is a resolution I’ve definitely been living up to.
So, what’s the secret? Well, aside from outside cardio a few times a week, I’ve been relying almost exclusively on YouTube workouts. As this is the so-called Digital Age, the Internet is home to hoards of exercise videos that are free and instantly accessible anytime, anywhere. This is a big part of what draws my to them: I love being able to get down on the floor and get some abs or lower body done in between errands or homework, especially during busy weeknights. And while there are so many videos to choose from (I dare you to type in the work “workout” on YouTube and not get intimidated), over the past couple months I’ve narrowed it down my three favorite channels: Tone It Up, Blogilates, and POPSUGAR Fitness. Each of these channels not only offers seriously intense workouts, but they also feature upbeat instructors whose attitudes motivate you to give every workout everything. you’ve. got.
Want to try some YouTube workouts for yourself? Below are the links to a few of my personal favorite videos, ranging from a full-body yoga series (serious burn) to flab-scorching arms routine. Take your pick and get started…you’ll thank me later.
Think yoga is too zen to give you an actual workout? This full-body toning session with light weights will help change both your body and your mind.
…And be sure to keep those weights on hand: You”ll be needing them for this “arms for abs” Pilates routine.
One of my favorite channels, Tone It Up, is currently running their annual Bikini Series! The Total Body Mermaid Workout is the first new video of this year’s series, and it’s one of their best yet.
Lately, I’ve been trying to focus on toning my arms, and this five-minute burst from Cassey Ho of Blogilates is one of my more recent go-tos.
Okay, okay, I couldn’t help but include another yoga video. Brought to you by POPSUGAR Fitness, this routine is taught by the fabulous Mandy Ingber (she’s got a few well-known clients (and bodies) to her name…Jennifer Aniston anyone?), with a purpose towards getting you happy and toned.
I hope that today’s post inspires you to incorporate a few YouTube workouts into your own fitness routine. They are convenient and cost-effective, not to mention a fun and surprisingly intense way to break a sweat. And even if you’re not super into working out, think about it this way: more exercise = more new summer clothes.
Now that’s an equation I think we can all get on board with. 😉
