Happy Friday, everyone! Today marks the debut a new series here on A Style Study, called “On My Radar”. Appearing within the first several days of each month, On My Radar will offer you a glimpse of just that: what’s on my “radar” for the next four weeks. Given my diverse (read: random) array of personal interests, you can count on these lists encompassing a wide variety of topics, from the release of a new collection from my favorite brand to an important political event (the race for 2016 is officially on…to say I’m pumped would be an understatement.).
Capitol Hill aside, my goal with this series is not only to share with you what I’m looking forward to, but also to get you thinking about what’s got you excited in the next few weeks. I know from personal experience that having a few bright lights at the end of the tunnel is a great way to combat stress, and can really get you motivated even on the laziest of days. So, without further ado, here’s what’s on my radar for April 2015:
+ Royal Baby No. 2. As an avid William and Kate fan for almost five years, its safe to say I’m excited about the arrival of Royal Baby No. 2. Rumor has it our favorite duchess is due at the end of April, coincidentally right around the time of her and Wills’ fourth wedding anniversary. Prince or princess? Be sure to place your bets while you still can.
+ Fashion Documentaries Galore. There are not one, but two fashion-focused documentaries set to debut this month. Cue the overenthusiastic happy dances from yours truly. The first one, from director Frédéric Tcheng, hits the States today with two screenings in New York City. Called Dior and I, the film follows the footsteps of Raf Simons as he creates his first couture collection for the House of Dior…in eight weeks. As a lover of anything and everything Raf, I’m especially excited for this one. Check out the trailer out here.
The second, Iris, tells the story of legendary fashion maven Iris Apfel, who at 93 is still fabulous as ever. And with Apfel at the wheel, one thing is for sure: fun is on the horizon. The film doesn’t appear in theaters until April 29, you can get a sneak peek by watching the trailer.
+ Haute Cuisine à la New York. Ever since I visited Paris almost two years ago, I’ve been in love with French cuisine. So when my French teacher announced my class was going to Le District later this month, I was immediately on board. For those of you who haven’t heard, Le District is a newly opened marketplace in Manhattan that could best be described as a French chef’s answer to Eataly. The sprawling space features everything from sit-down restaurant spaces to an authentic pâtisserie and fleuriste (because who doesn’t love fresh flowers alongside their warm croissant?). After internet stalking it over the course of several days, I cannot wait to explore Le District for myself. Would you be interested in a recap/review? Let me know below!
+ The Beginning of An Era (For Me, At Least). These days, it feels like you can’t go anywhere without someone mentioning the upcoming finale of Mad Men (the final season started last Sunday, April 5). I got a serious case of FOMO over the weekend, and went over to Netflix just to see what all the hype was about. Um…I get it now. I’m just about halfway through season one, and am 100% hooked. Although I am sad the show is ending just as I’m joining in the fun, I’m kind of glad that I still have six-and-a-half seasons left ahead of me. Oh, you want to hang out Friday? Sorry, I’ve got plans with Don & Co.
+ Tone It Up Bikini Series. Have you been on Tone It Up yet? If not, you should most definitely get on that. Karena and Katrina put together some of the greatest workouts ever, and they’re all available for free right there on the site. Next week marks the start of their annual Bikini Series, an eight-week workout schedule that gets you in strong and toned for when it comes time to hit the beach. I love their workouts from previous Bikini Series’, so I immediately signed up for the year’s. You can do so yourself here!
And there you have it: what’s on my radar for April. Even though things are staring to get intense at school in preparation for the end of the year, I’ve got lots of things to keep me going this month. So bring it on, April showers.
What on your radar this month?
