They’ve Got Style

A few months ago, I started a Pinterest board called “his & hers”. The board was created on a whim, after I stumbled upon an adorable shot of newlyweds styled in head-to-toe J.Crew and was desperate for a place to store it. Well, little did I know that I had opened a serious can of worms. What started out as a lonely board with one photo to it’s name has grown to a carefully curated collection of everything from black-and-white snaps of Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin to adorable candids of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. Although the decades may vary greatly, one thing every photo includes are some seriously envy-inducing outfits. Call me crazy, but there is something about a well-dressed couple that makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Take a peak at five of my favorites below, and you’ll see exactly what I mean:

Lauren Bacall and Frank Sinatra taking a spin on the dance floor. Couldn’t you just die over her sequin dress? That smart tux of his isn’t so bad, either.

Ali MacGraw and Ryan O’Neill on the set of Love Story. I know, I know, they’re technically a fictional couple, but you can’t deny that they’ve got the fashion game down pat.

Serge and Jane may forever be my favorite couple, ever. Here they are striking a pose in 1971. What amazes me about this is that they would look just as relevant today. Those high waisted jeans with that jacket? That perfectly undone suit? Uh, yes, please.

Move over, Brad and Angelina. Ralph and Ricky Lauren had the matching- tuxedo look down to science long before Hollywood’s hottest couple made it cool. I love how Ricky went for the full-on Marlene Dietrich look with the white vest and bow tie. Ralph, of course, is his usual rugged self with that filmy little ribbon around his own neck.

Lastly, Carolyn Besette and JFK, Jr. are the epitome of off-duty chic. Somehow, John manages to make a simple cotton t-shirt look pulled-together, and Carolyn suddenly makes me want to invest in a good baseball cap. Bravo.

Are there any famous (or not-so-famous!) couples that you find especially inspiring? Have a great Monday!

xx
