Although it seems crazy to be thinking about spring trends in the middle of November, it won’t be long before the newest warm-weather pieces of hitting the shelves! And while I’m certainly not wishing winter away, I’ll grab at any opportunity to look back at the Spring/Summer 2015 collections, which were shown just a few months ago. The runways were home to some major trends, with everything from wistful seventies nostalgia to utilitarian detailing expected to be big in the upcoming season. One of my favorites, however, was the distinct tropical/ocean vibe that seemed to be a favorite of many designers. As per usual, every label chose to put their own spin on the idea of “beachy”. Some, like the creatives behind Emma Cook, Band of Outsiders, and Nicole Miller (above), interpreted it very literally, and showed off an array of vibrant, Hawaiian-esque florals. Others, like those at Valentino and Roberto Cavalli (below), reimagined the tropical mood into luxurious, now-if-only-I-had-somewhere-to-go evening dresses. Either way, we’ll certainly be seeing a lot of this look come spring!
