Product Review: Beautycounter Lip Sheer

I’ve mentioned this before, but finding makeup that works for me can be a serious struggle. I have really sensitive skin, meaning that most drugstore products (and even some more high end buys!) create uncomfortable sensations and succeed in just all around freaking me out. That being said, you can imagine how happy I was to stumble upon Beautycounter by chance this past summer. Their whole mission is to create luxurious, splurge-worthy products that are free of any harmful ingredients. I started out by using their shampoo, conditioner, and sunscreen, and as I have said before, they were all amazing! Needless to say, when I heard the company was debuting their first selection of cosmetics, I was immediately game for trying and and all of it out.

Well, it took a few months, but I am now the proud owner of Beautycounter’s Lip Sheer. Although I trust the Beautycounter team 100%, I was a little wary when I ordered this product. I’m normally more of a lip gloss girl, as I don’t love the waxy feeling of most lipsticks. As a clicked the “Place Order” button, I was nervous whether or not I would even like the pale pink shade I had chosen. Would it be a complete mistake?

Nope. It most certainly was not. For starters, the packaging is gorgeous (hey, presentation is important too!). The lipstick itself is concealed in a reflective, brass-colored tube that happens to have have the perfect amount of weightiness to it. As for the lipstick itself, before you even put it on you have to give yourself a moment to squeal over the color. I ordered mine in ‘Petal’, which true to its moniker turned out to be an exquisite rose-y pink. Seriously, though…I am now on the hunt for a sweater this color.

Now onto the nitty-gritty: how this well-packaged, beautifully-hued lip product feels on. I am totally comfortable saying that this is the most comfortable lipstick, lip gloss, or otherwise that I have ever put on. It glides onto your lips more like a balm, and is free on any unwanted stickiness. Better yet, the color pops almost instantly, meaning that one or two easy swipes leaves you ready to go. Perfect for those late-to-a-very-important-date moments or last-minute application en-route (admit it: we’ve all been there).

For all of the great things that epitomize Beautycounter’s Lip Sheer, though, I do have one complaint. The color wears off rather quickly, meaning that if you’re looking for one of those eight-hour, smudge-free products, this is not for you. However, unless having to reapply your lipstick is a personal pet peeve, I would highly recommend in the Lip Sheer. Like I said above, it’s easy to apply, looks pretty even when you’re not using it, and is crazy comfortable yet luxurious at the same time. In short, it’s your favorite cashmere scarf…in lipstick form.

One last tip: just like you would with that scarf, buy one in every color. Trust me, you’ll be thankful you did so.

xx
