Supermodels Rise Again

As major publications begin to roll out the covers of their September issues, I have noticed many of them have one thing in common: the cover stars are model. That’s right: honest-goodness-supermodels, fronting a September cover. Such a thing would have been commonplace in the ’90s, when Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell reigned supreme, but today? This is a big deal. Could these covers possibly be signaling the dawn of another supermodel era? One could only hope.

What are your thoughts on the return of supermodels to magazine covers? Are you celebrating or do you miss the actresses and singers?

  1. I love that models are gracing the cover of fashion magazines, it’s a models territory to be a fashion magazine cover girl. As much as i have loved covers with actresses and singers on them (Victoria Beckham and Lana Del Rey for example) i believe that the cover stars should have a connection to fashion rather than their sole reasoning for being on the cover being to promote their new movie coming out, thus using a fashion magazine to promote themselves rather than fashion.

    1. Thanks for your input! I agree that it is indeed refreshing to see a cover star with a connection to what the publication really stands for/talks about. xx
