As a loyal customer of Aritzia for a few years now (for those of you who have yet to happen upon it, it’s simply a must), I often found myself wondering when they were going to break into the handbag market. It seemed as if they had every other accessory under the sun: scarves, hats, irons phone cases, you name it, they probably had it. But never was there a handbag in sight. Until now, that is.
On Monday (August 11), Aritzia released their first selection of in-house handbags. Needless to say, i scampered down to the mall at first chance to check them out. And, let me tell you, they were well worth the wait.
For their handbag debut, Aritzia opted to have not one, but two individual labels available to the customer, a fact that merely added to my excitement. There is Six Eleven, which has an athletics-meets-downtown-edge vibe, as well as Auxiliary, its sophisticated, minimal, and vaguely vintage counterpart (hello, day/night transitioning!). Having these distinct lines to choose from offers customers a unique diversity of products. Options range from a utilitarian and zipper-heavy leather backpack to a city-chic miniature satchel. Colors are also many in number. The edgy goodies under the Six Eleven umbrella are available in black, tan, or blue, while Auxiliary totes and satchels come in stone, wine, forest, and also black. In short, no matter what your personal style may be, there is something for you here.
I highly suggest you take a few moments to appreciate Aritzia’s new bags, be it at home on your laptop or at your local mall. Whether or not you end up taking one (or two!) of these lovelies home with you, there is always something to be said for for craftsmanship and the truly sumptuous aesthetic these products have to offers. Besides, who really needs an excuse to buy a beautiful new bag? I certainly don’t.
