Every fashion girl (or guy!) knows the indescribable pain and frustration that comes with falling in love with a specific look or item of clothing and not being able to find out where it is from. This is a tragic event that happens far too often, but Kate Bosworth may have the answer to the problem.
On Tuesday, July 15, the actress and street-style favorite launched her debut app: Style Thief. Upon downloading (for free, no less), the app gives users the ability to snap a stealthy photo, do an image search for a fashion item, and buy it in a matter of seconds.
In a promotional interview with Women’s Wear Daily, Bosworth explained the inspiration behind Style Thief, saying “Everyone can relate to that feeling of looking at an editorial, for example -or a friend, or the runway, for that matter- wanting to steal something exactly as you’re seeing it, or something similar.”
Unlike most fashion-centric apps (think Pose or Stylect), the Style Thief team has opted not to include a social media feature on the app for the sake of easy use. It does, however, include options for typing a search and a customized alert to notify the user when a particular item goes for sale. When finding an item, there is also the ability to narrow down search results by print and pattern.
Is Style Thief the solution we’ve all been waiting for? I just downloaded it an cannot wait to find out for myself! What do you think of the app? Will you/have you downloaded it, or are you skeptical? Let me know!
